What do I think my expectations for learning and outcomes from this colloquium class will be? Honestly, I don't completely know just yet. So far my perception of colloquium is similar to ones that I get from other classes that I have taken at Florida Gulf Coast University. They all run along that lines of sustainability, sustainability, and yes you guessed it more sustainability. Now I am not saying that there is anything wrong with this I am just hoping that this colloquium class will be a little less dry than other classes that I have taken of a similar nature. Even though Florida Gulf Coast University is a school that specializes in sustainability, recycling, and all things good that help the environment, I want this class to go more in depth than just scratching the service of these types of issues. With all of the pressing issues I would like to see and discuss real life scenarios in which some of these problems are being rectified and fixed today! Hopefully this class will have more of a hands on approach to the different topics that will be discussing. I am expecting this class to also allow students voice their own personal opinions without it being 'right' or 'wrong'. Upon completion of this class students should have an in depth look at challenges that are facing our world today and a better understanding on ways to stop them, or correct them. Also, they should be especially well rounded in pressing matters that involve the environment of Southwest Florida.
